His Grace Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios Entered to His Eternal Home
His Grace. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios, senior most Metropolitan of our church passed away on February 16,2012 at Parumala Hospital. The funeral services were conducted at Parumala seminary,Bethany Aramana, Thiruvalla, Niranam Valia Pally and Pathichira Pally, Mavelikara. From Pathichira Pally the funeral procession moved to St. Pauls Mission Training Center, Mavelikara and the last service and burial was conducted there under the leadership of Valiya Bava and the present Catholika Bava Thirumeni.
His Grace finished his Theological studies in America in 1950’s and served as the professor and vice principal of our Theological Seminary in Kottayam and later as the Metropolitan of the Niranam Diocese. He was an eminent orator, philosopher and theologian. His Grace served as the president of the Mission board of our church. He had three main policies: preaching the word of God, teaching the word of God, and continuing the healing ministry of our Lord.
He was able to make all his policies into practice. His Grace did a lot to extend the outreach mission of our church. He established various charitable organizations such as Yacharam Bakagram. He established various projects such as sick aid fund, marriage assistance fund etc. to help the poor. He wrote more than 60 books. Most of his books are about liberation theology that is to implement policies that will give equal opportunity to all people, rich and poor.
His life is a model to all people. We read in Deuteronomy 34:10 about Moses: Now there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses whom the Lord knew face to face.
In many ways there has not arisen a Metroplitan like Osthathios Thirumeni who had an outreach mission of the church and the spreading of the gospel.
We the members of St. Gregorios Orthodox Church of India, South Florida pay our homage to our beloved father and pray for his soul.

 Music Concert
Under the auspicious of our church we are going to conduct a music concert of Sujatha and her daughter on April 27 (Friday) at Cooper City High school. Mr. Samuel Thomas is the convener and Jaya Joseph is the coordinator of this program. All our families are requested to take one family ticket and sell as much as they can to their friends and neighbors and make this event a success.
Sunday School Final Exam
The Sunday School final exam will be conducted on May 20, 2012.
Diocesan Family Conference
This year the Diocesan Family Conference will be conducted at Hyatt Regency Bonaventure conference Center, Weston, Fort Lauderdale from July 11-14. The flyer which shows detailed information was distributed in the church. Those who did not receive yet will get it from Jacob Abraham (Binu). Since the Diocesan conference will be conducted in Florida for the first time and it will take couple of years to conduct it here again, all our people are urged to schedule their vacation program and participate in the conference.
